have we mentioned we love details?
We talk a big game of details. We value the small like remembering something a client told us they didn’t like in our first meeting about a potential project or big like adding a unexpected heated seat in the shower for a large bathroom renovation. For the blog this week we wanted to look back at some of our favorite details from projects of the past.
A niche for all seasons
The perfect spot for all things shower
We could talk about niches in bathrooms for days - we particularly love this one we added to a renovated bathroom for a family that waited 25 years for the perfect walk-in shower. It was important for practical reasons, as the clients were hoping to keep organized with minimal products but it also gave us an opportunity to play with textures and materials we had used throughout the space.
Keeping things fresh
Did someone say product placement
When we are staging a project or even a photo shoot we always find it helpful to use a collection of products that, yes look good in the space but also help our clients imagine their own life (including their favorite things) in our work. It can be as simple as the collection of Fresh products we already had on hand for this photo shoot, or your favorite bottles of water in a kitchen staging.

DIY’ing the details
This lighting fixture we did for a renovated bathroom in Cape Elizabeth will always be one of our favorite details. After not being able to find what we were looking for we said half joking, “we should just design this light ourselves.” And the decision was made. We have told this story many times, but we can’t stress enough how much our client appreciated the additional effort and loved the piece. Sometimes the details are just about thinking outside the box.
it was all yellow (or just Benjamin moore blue)
It’s bold, it’s bright, it’s blue (literally)
Blue. Sometimes the details can be simple. We wanted to to find a complimentary color for this existing tile in our clients guest bathroom. So we went looking for the perfect blue and we found just that, Benjamin Moore Blue.
let there be light
Creating cozy corners can help buyers imagine themselves in a home
We talk about light a lot. It is so important to any project and how you put together a space. We love finding little corners of natural light that can really highlight a staging for potential buyers.
Cooking up something good
A recipe for buying
Books! Books! Books! Coffee table books are always great for a staging. But we love to use a cook book in kitchens because it can add that cozy feeling everyone loves when cooking in their own kitchen.
jingle all the red
Monochromatic trees too
One of the most enjoyable things we do is help our clients get ready for the holidays. When our client asked us to prepare their home in Blue Hills with one specific request - an all red Christmas tree, we were excited to say the least. These were the details we love, finding the perfect bulbs, lights and tree. And the final result was beautiful, it makes us think many more monochrome holiday trees are in our future!
Pulls, knobs and drawers to be clear
Form and function in the hardware selection is key
Finding the right hardware for any space can be an unexpected time and cost headache. There are so many options with prices and finishes that seem to go on forever. We understand how stressful this can become for clients and for this particular (and very important) decision for any room, We like to have honest conversations with our clients about all the hardware possibilities.
Florals, for a bathroom. Groundbreaking
Putting the Spring in every room
One of our co-founders has a significantly larger green thumb than the other - Alysia grows a beautiful garden of fruits, veggies and flowers in the summer. Chrissy struggles to keep a cactus afloat. So when it comes to using florals to add a little something extra to our staging projects, Alysia takes the lead. We find that florals can be used in the most traditional ways to brighten a room but we find using blooms and greens in unexpected ways can bring attention to unappreciated spaces in a home.
Everyone loves a heated seat
The perfect mid-shower rest stop
Something that helps with details is a great relationship with your partners in projects. For this shower renovation our contractor, Cary Construction suggested we add a heated seat for our client and she couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. It was the small things like the height of the seat and how easy it was to get to the niche that made this heated seat just a little bit more special.
Stripes!
Even with all the gorgeous food, someone is looking at the plates
As we’ve said many many times, our co-founder Chrissy loves a stripe. So using stripes in any capacity is always something we love to do - finding the perfect striped plate for our Italian inspired summer dinner party was a treat. We love to use stripes in big and small ways, a bath towel, a sofa or even a window treatment.
a place to rest your head
The final detail in any space
Obsessive. Pillows can be an obsession. But they are the final detail to end all other details.
