OUR CO-FOUNDER CHRISSY HAS SOME THINGS TO SAY ABOUT DESIGN

NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH of a good thing

Color Drenching: I love the depth it brings to a space. I know to some it can seem like too much but I think it can really reduce the noise of a space and bring a real cohesive feel. A part of me loves the drama as well - I often wax poetic to Alysia about color drenching our office bathroom black. No luck yet on that one.

a tiger never loses her stripes

Stripes: Stripes have been a wardrobe staple of mine forever - so it is only natural that I love stripes in design as well. I find stripes in any scope or format a fantastic way to add a playful and still sophisticated vibe to a room.

an unexpected pop of color

Grout Colors: It is such an unexpected interesting color pop to me, I think adding some color to a tile design can be the perfect punch to a kitchen or bathroom.

oh! the drama

Wallpaper Murals: I am obsessed with using a wallpaper mural in a dining room space - I love the drama it brings. Murals are such a great use of space and I believe can tell such a great story (sometimes literally) in the design of a home.

Haven’t I see you before

Vintage Tile: While I understand that the style and often wild colors of these tiles are difficult to use in design, I love the history behind the designs, colors and shapes used. But I also love the possibilities of finding the perfect accent wall or corner to maybe, just maybe use some of these beautiful pieces.

BONUS NON-DESIGN LOVE

BONUS: Vintage Dish and Glass Shopping: While I guess this could technically be a design love we are still going with it. I have a friend who is an absolute gem to antique shop with - she has such a unique vision for spaces and always knows when to tell me no. But finding the perfect set of glasses or dishes is pure joy. I recommend heading to Cornish, Maine for some outstanding options!

A FEW OF MY (VERY PERSONAL) NOT SO FAVORITE DESIGN THINGS

Heavy Shower Hardware: I like to keep shower designs as clean and efficient as possible. Lack Of Color: While I love the look of a Nancy Meyers kitchen as much as the next guy, I think every space always has little bit of room for color. Floating Stairs: DANGER. Too Many Trends: We love mixing classic designs with the occasional trend. For me it is important to edit your spaces often. Non-Functional Spaces: A home should be beautiful and functional.

BONUS DISLIKE (CONTROVERSIAL Take)

BONUS: Ranch Dressing: You’ll never find me at the Hidden Valley Ranch.
